Myofunctional Therapy For Kids
When myofunctional disorders can be identified and treated in children the results for life long healthy function can be achieved and prevent a life of dysfunctional habits. Babies all the way through teenagers should be assessed for TOTs (Tethered Oral Tissues) by a provider who has received special training.
Kids should also be assessed for any signs of dysfunction. The standard of care for children is similar as it is for adults. Dysfunction should be addressed (mouth breathing, narrow arches, crowding, sleep disorders, ADHD symptoms, and tongue thrusting) with myofunctional therapy and in combination with other specialist, such an orthodontist, tongue tie release provider and ENT, as needed.
